Date: 3rd – 12th June, 2026Venue: Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Shere Hills, JosClasses: SS1 and four SS2 learners From 3rd to 12th June 2026, learners from Yilret Academy Dong took part in an intensive leadership and outdoor training programme at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Shere Hills, Jos. The training provided our learners with an opportunity to learn outside the classroom while developing important life and leadership skills. The centre offered a range of facilities and activities, including football, volleyball, parachute activities, and other practical exercises. Our learners participated in challenging activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, cooking with firewood, obstacle courses, emergency tent-making, canoe building, and water travel at a dam. Each activity required courage, cooperation, careful planning, and a willingness to overcome challenges. The programme was designed to develop teamwork, trust, division of labour, decision-making, time management, and confidence. It also encouraged learners to face their fears and phobias and discover that many challenges can be overcome with courage, preparation, and support from others. Discipline was another important part of the training. Through Bible teachings and practical lessons, the learners were encouraged to develop good character, self-control, responsibility, and respect for others. We sincerely appreciate Educators Chindaba Po’enmwa and Noel Habila, the parents of our participating learners, and the dedicated instructors at the training centre for their support and guidance throughout the programme. At Yilret Academy Dong, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. Experiences like this help our learners develop the confidence, character, and skills they need to face the future.

Today’s Open Day at Yilret Academy Dong was more than just a visit to the school. It was a valuable opportunity for parents and guardians to connect with our teachers and gain a better understanding of their children’s progress. The day was dedicated to reviewing the academic and personal development of our learners through direct interactions with class and subject teachers. Parents had the opportunity to discuss their children’s strengths, areas that need improvement, and ways they can support their learning at home. Beyond reviewing the term’s progress, the Open Day also gave everyone an opportunity to look ahead. Through meaningful conversations and shared ideas, we were able to consider the goals, opportunities, and possibilities that lie ahead for our learners. We appreciate all the parents and guardians who took the time to attend and actively participate. Your involvement plays an important role in helping our learners succeed. At Yilret Academy Dong, we believe that when parents, teachers, and learners work together, we can build a stronger foundation for every child’s future.

Yilret Academy Dong Learners Attend Change Maker Leadership and Mentoring Conference Date: 20th May, 2026 On 20th May 2026, learners from Yilret Academy Dong attended the Change Maker Leadership and Mentoring Conference held at Odilins Event Centre. The conference, themed “Rooted – Building Leaders Who Last,” focused on helping young people understand what it takes to become responsible and effective leaders. It provided our learners with an opportunity to learn, interact with other young people, and gain valuable lessons that can support their personal growth. The conference aimed to equip young people with the values, skills, and mindset needed to lead with character, confidence, and resilience in a changing world. The sessions and activities encouraged participants to understand the importance of good values, responsible decision-making, perseverance, and positive influence. For our learners, the experience was both educational and inspiring. It gave them a broader understanding of leadership and reminded them that true leadership is not only about holding a position but also about making a positive difference in the lives of others. We sincerely appreciate the organizers of the Change Maker Leadership and Mentoring Conference for putting together such an impactful programme and creating an opportunity for young people to learn, grow, and become better leaders. At Yilret Academy Dong, learning goes beyond the four walls of the classroom. Recently, our SS1 learners embarked on an educational excursion to the High Court of Plateau State — an experience designed to deepen their understanding of civic education and the justice system. During the visit, students had the opportunity to observe court proceedings and gain firsthand insight into how the legal system operates. They learned about the roles of judges, lawyers, and court officials, and saw how laws are interpreted and applied in real-life situations. This practical exposure helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, making their classroom lessons more meaningful and engaging. The excursion also provided a valuable opportunity for students to ask questions and interact with legal professionals, who shared knowledge about careers in law and the importance of justice in society. At Yilret Academy Dong, we are committed to raising informed, confident, and responsible citizens. Experiences like this educational visit broaden our learners’ perspectives, inspire career aspirations, and strengthen their understanding of their role in building a just and orderly society.

At Yilret Academy Dong, we believe real learning happens when learners explore the world around them. In line with this, our JS1 learners recently went on an educational visit to the Jos Museum. The trip gave learners a rich, hands-on experience with historical artifacts, traditional artworks, and cultural exhibits. They explored Nigeria’s diverse heritage, ancient civilizations, and why preserving history matters for future generations. Seeing these artifacts firsthand brought Social Studies and History lessons to life. Our learners asked thoughtful questions, took notes, and engaged enthusiastically with the guides. The visit deepened their insight into Nigeria’s cultural treasures while sparking curiosity and pride in our national history. At Yilret Academy Dong, we nurture well-rounded learners through meaningful experiences. This trip to Jos Museum strengthened our learners’ appreciation for culture and history and made learning practical and enjoyable..
